As some of you may be aware, Ross and I have just got back from Cyprus. As much as I love England, it was great to get away for a week – replacing this drab March weather with clear skies and warm sunny days was an absolute tonic and I’ve come back recharged and re-motivated for sure. Enough, in fact, for me to start looking at where in Europe I’d like to visit next.
Right now, Spain is looking promising – especially Barcelona. We have a number of people recommend Barcelona to us so looked into the city back when we were making a decision on where to go and it has remained one of the top places on our list of cities that we’d love to visit. Some of Ross’ friends have been to El Celler de Can Roca, rated as the best restaurant in the world, in nearby Girona, and I’m constantly reading posts about what a great city Barcelona is on all fronts – from dining to nightlife to sightseeing and visiting any of the many museums – or just plain relaxing. It’s definitely somewhere I could see myself creating some great memories (and do some great shopping in the many exciting markets!).
So I was delighted to have recently been contacted by HCC Hotels, a chain that has six hotels strategically positioned around Barcelona. They also have sites in Berga and Amposta, so offer plenty of choice. The St. Moritz and Regente hotels are both 4 stars and the others a very pleasant 3 stars, so there’s a choice of price and standard. When the time comes, I think I’d lean towards staying at the Hotel HCC Regente (4 stars) in Barcelona on account of their terrace with a swimming pool, which boasts incredible views of the city. Plus, any hotel that has developed a “Wine & Gin Tonic Corner” definitely gets my vote! The rooms look clean, comfortable and are very reasonably priced for one of Europe’s premier destinations.
