Where Should I Go On Holiday?
Decisions, decisions. We all have to make them, right?! Where shall I shop? What shall I buy such and such for Christmas? What shall I have for tea? What should I wear today?
Well, there is an even bigger decision to make – Where should I go on holiday? To me, a main holiday is a vast investment every year and therefore you want to get it right…right?!
There is a great new interactive tool over on the Holiday Gems blog to help people decide where they should go on holiday. Totally fab for an indecisive soul like me – especially when you have to cater for the rest of the families needs!
The tool allows the user to set the following parameters:
- the month you want to go on holiday
- the temperature of the destination
- how far/length of time you are willing to travel
- the activities you want to participate in
- how many people will be travelling
Once you have completed all of the stages will the tool will provide you with a suggested destination based on your individual needs.
I thought I would put the tool to the test. I chose August as the month for a holiday for our family, then I selected just into the realms of hot for the temperature. I then decided upon a 3 hour plane journey. The activities I selected were beach, pool and sight seeing. Finally I picked the family with young kids as the travellers in our party.
So, what was my destination?
I have to say that I have never been to the Costa Brava but it certainly appeals to me, especially as Barcelona is just down the road. I will be looking it up properly and seeing what it offers to a family with an 8 year old.
Have you decided where you would like to go next year? Why not take the quiz and see what it suggests for you?
This is a collaborative post.

What a great idea…..Fantastic for someone who can’t make a decision like me….lol x
What a great and fun way to make a decision about holidays. I’m terrible my list extends to the next five years so I’m trying to tick them off, all the while adding to it constantly! x
What a great and fun way to make a decision about holidays! I’m terrible… My list runs until the next 5 years, so am trying to get through them but other places keep popping up! First world problems I know! 🙂 x
Well we got Zante for the short haul and Sharm el Sheik for the long haul! I don’t think I’d really like that part of Eqypt just from what friends have said. But Zante sounds lovely!!
This looks fun! I will do it now! twice, one for a short holiday no longer than 3 hours away and another further afield- I wonder if we will be given Thailand as a destination haha. Costa Brava is lovely xxxx #PoCoLo
This looks fab and an alternative to endless Googling!

This sounds fab! I always struggle with thinking where to go as often the choice is too much and I get overwhelmed. Something that makes a choice for me based on my taste sounds great!
That sounds like a brilliant idea. What a great way of helping you come up with ideas of where to go on holiday. #PoCoLo
Gosh what a good idea! I find it really difficult to choose where to go on holiday. I do try to get the summer one booked in before Christmas though or the good ones have gone!
Oooh I shall have to take the quiz and see where it sends us…. then leave the laptop open on that page for hubs to see!!!!!
Ha ha! I got Ibiza and didn’t tick partying. Fun quiz xx #PoCoLo
We are wondering whether to be brave and try going abroad this year, bit expensive with six of us and rather scary with all the allergies but I fancy some guaranteed sun!
Not a long comment – as need to rush over and use this tool to check out where I should travel to!
I got Ibiza. Maybe stick to the north of the island haha, great tool to start you off if you have no idea where you want to go.
Hi Victoria, it won’t be long until the telly adverts move on from Christmas to the holiday adverts. This tool sounds like it takes the work out of choosing a holiday and it would be interesting to see if the Costa Bravo lives up to what you are looking for.
I am lucky in the fact that living in a hot and sunny location we don’t really worry about a summer holiday (it’s also our main working season). When we do go away it’s either to sunny England or even sunny South Africa to visit family.
