Dreamland Margate Experiences a Camp Bestival Takeover for Easter 2019

Dreamland, Margate
I can distinctly remember heading to Dreamland Margate when I was a kid. Of course, it was called Bembom Brothers back then and it’s big attraction was the Mary Rose swinging boat – at least, it was for me and my brother and sisters.
It is now one of the oldest surviving amusement parks in the UK and is situated opposite Margate beach. Dreamland gives visitors all ages the chance to experience stunning vintage rides, pop-up entertainment, art installations and eclectic street food, and boasts a year-round programme of live music and events.
Re-opened in 2017
Since re-opening in 2017 after additional investment, Dreamland has been delivering exciting experiences for international visitors across its estate. In addition to the amusement park, there is also a roller room and diner, 1,000 capacity music venue (Hall By The Sea), children’s soft play centre (Octopus’s Garden), seafront pub (Cinque Ports), and amusement arcade.
Free Entry to Dreamland
Dreamland announced in February that it will be free to enter for its opening season, meaning families can explore the picturesque park and festival takeover for free and only pay per ride and for slots on the bouncy castle. Guests can purchase unlimited ride wristbands in advance (25% off when bought online at www.dreamland.co.uk), or choose Dreamland Membership for unlimited rides during park opening plus special discounts and exclusive membership perks on food and drink and ticketed events all year round.

Camp Bestival Takeover
Dreamland Margate reopens in full on Saturday 6th April and will start the season with a full park takeover by Camp Bestival for the school holidays – and, like the rest of the year, it’s FREE to enter.
From 6th to 22nd April, Camp Bestival will bring a taste of its much-loved family festival to the Margate amusement park with live music, rides, and extravagant entertainment for all the family (without the camping – which definitely appeals to me!).

As well as enjoying the park’s rides, guests will have three unique Bestival installations to explore – the 8m tall Love-Bot that spreads love and joy to all, a mini temple and Bollywood chill out zone, and – returning to Dreamland for the second time – The World’s Biggest Bouncy Castle (taller than the Great Wall of China and accommodates 100 bouncers at a time). Competitive souls can try the wobbly Olympics, festival mask making, and visit some cute and occasionally creepy creatures in the Dreamland Ark.
The Camp Bestival Party
The Easter festivities will culminate in a Camp Bestival Party on Sunday 21st April, curated by ‘Family da Bank’ (founder and DJ Rob da Bank and his family team), with a day of family friendly DJs, live music and workshops for big and little kids.
Those in need of relaxation can dive into the pop-up Sleep Retreat with yoga, gong baths and meditation from local relaxation experts, while other ravers can enjoy a DJ BBQ and tunes from The Cuban Brothers, Junior Jungle and Rob da Bank himself with more acts to be announced.

About Camp Bestival
Camp Bestival is known as the UK’s ultimate family festival, having won Best Family Festival at the UK Festival Awards five times. Its main summer festival takes place during the first weekend of the school holidays (July 25th-28th) at Lulworth Castle, Dorset. The festival offers hundreds of things to see and do from music headliners Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Jess Glynne and Annie Mac, family shows with Mr Tumble, Mister Maker and Shaun The Sheep, to comedy, spoken word, arts, science shows and circus workshops for all.
Camp Bestival curator Rob da Bank said: “Some of our young audience say that Camp Bestival is better than Christmas, and who are we to argue? So this collaboration is gonna be like Christmas, your birthday and New Year’s Eve all rolled into one as Camp Bestival decamps to Margate and lands in the most amazing adventure space we can think of – Dreamland.
The Camp Bestival takeover will be during normal park opening hours, and there will be no festival camping or overnight activity. Dreamland will be open weekends and bank holidays, and Wednesdays to Sundays during school holidays, from 6th April
