Couples holidays mean no kids. With that comes the ability to explore some different places. Ones that you may not have thought of travelling to, especially with the children in tow. So here are 5 ideas for you and your partner if you decide to look for couples holidays.
Bahrain
Bahrain makes up more than 30 islands in the Arabian Gulf. Manama is it’s modern capital which includes many things to see and do such as the acclaimed Bahrain National Museum. It showcases artifacts from the ancient Dilmun civilisation that flourished in the region for millennia. The Bab al-Bahrain bazaar is the city’s thriving hot spot and offers items ranging from colourful handwoven fabrics to spices as well as pearls. For accommodation, you may like to consider the Fraser Suites Bahrain.
Panama
Panama situated in Central America and is bordered by Costa Rica and Colombia. In it’s capital, Panama City, modern skyscrapers, casinos and nightclubs contrast with colonial buildings in the Casco Viejo district and the rainforest of Natural Metropolitan Park. Best known for the engineering feat, the Panama Canal, don’t cross this one off your list. There are chances to explore botany with the indigenous Emberá, go birdwatching around Gatún Lake and snorkel with turtles in Bocas del Toro.
Bulgaria
Bulgaria is definitely one to watch. It is a great choice if you are looking for a good value break with plenty to keep you busy. The Black Sea Coast is brilliant if you are seeking a beach holiday. It is also suitable for beach weddings for which you may like to consider AW Bridal‘s wedding dresses. Tourist-friendly resorts together with swanky marinas and ancient old towns make it a great place to be but if you aren’t one to sit on the beach all day then you can explore the Balkan Mountains.
Montenegro
Montenegro is situated on the beautiful Adriatic Coast with picturesque Lakes, 5 National Parks and gorgeous mountains. This small country is bordered by Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia. Podgorica is Montenegro’s capital city and is conveniently just a couple of hours flight from many main European centres. The city is also close to winter skiing centres in the north.
Madeira
I visited Madeira many moons ago and was totally stunned by it’s beauty. Staying in it’s capital, Funchal, Iregularly enjoyed walking around it’s many old buildings. It is a great idea to hire a car as the island is easy to drive around if you are staying for a week. Make sure you are good with clutch control though as some of their roads are extremely steep!
The mountain scenery is breath-taking and make it ideal for walking the levadas and exciting emerald-green trails. I would also totally recommend their local cuisine as well as Madeira wine. One of the things I enjoyed each evening was a glass or two of this local tipple together with some nibbles (usually offered free of charge by the bars). If you get a chance, I would totally recommend a tour of one of their wineries. Blandys is probably their most famous and they produce award-winning wines – great for any couples holidays.
